Which Balabac Tour Operator Should You Book?

We know that you’re also looking at other tour operators in Balabac. And you should! Because all travelers should do their own research to find which tour package fits their personality and budget. So we are writing this blog to help you decide if you should choose another operator other than us, and to remind you what to look for.

“Should I Book Balabac Island Life Experience by The Wanderwalkers?”

You can answer this question easily! Just ask yourself first, “do I want (or can I) spend 3 nights or so camping in a tent or nipa hut in a white sand secluded beach with only the basic facilities, while enjoying the perks of nature?” If yes, then you should book us! Remember that our package is the only Island Life Experience in the only white powdery sand beach of Balabac. Yes there’s other island camping, too, in Candaraman Island but it’s not white sand like Boracay’s.

We’re sure (and sad) that this is not going to be the case forever because as we speak, two big companies (clue: A*a*a and S*n M, can you guess?) are already clearing their purchased chunk of our beach to develop resorts. So, if you’re into our Island Life Experience, grab the sooner you can, while nature is still untouched here!

But if you want more comfort, then please look for other packages that lets you sleep in the town. There are a lot of pages that are offering their Balabac tour. This is just like doing a tour in El Nido and Coron. You go for a day of island hopping then go home to a lodge. Our package let’s you go home to our beach.

I prefer to stay in the town, whom should I book?

Here’s the part where we want to be helpful to you even though you’re not availing our service. When looking for an operator to book from the mainland, consider the following factors:

  1. Reviews, reviews, reviews! Don’t just look at the price. Most are lowering their price to make it attractive, but cut on some costs like food and boat. Book the ones with good reviews on their page.
  2. Boat. This is especially for couples and small groups. Some operators will offer you a very low price but the boat they provide you is a small boat without roof. You’ve seen this cute boat in the pictures, but it’s not fun to ride it especially when it’s sunny or when the waves are big.

One of the visitors of Balabac learned it the hard way when she and her boyfriend booked a cheap private package only to find out they were gonna be using a small boat during a big wavy day! They ended up canceling their tour and asked us to take them in our group.
  3. Inclusions. Again, don’t just look at the price, look at what is provided. Other Balabac tour operators publish lower prices but removes other inclusions such as van transfers and lodge fees. Then you will realize that you should have just booked an all-in package because it costs the same anyway.

Avoid this boat. Tourism doesn’t allow this for tourists.

Conclusion

Traveling is the only thing you spend on that makes you richer! So when planning your trip, don’t just look at the price but consider how much precious moments you can get from a trip! Happy planning guys!

The best experience in the Philippines! Our expedition to Balabac with Wanderwalkers was totally beyond our expectations. Everything - from booking to the whole expedition - was perfectly organized and we always had all the information we needed. After booking the trip, wandewalkers sent us a PDF guide with all the tips on what to take to the island, what to expect during the trip and what to avoid. Pick up from Puerto Princesa was no problem, as was transportation to the port. Our tour guide Jeremy was waiting for us there and he and the crew spent all 4 days with us. Jeremy spoke absolutely perfect English and always kept us informed of what was going to happen and was always helpful. As for the campsite - we upgraded to TP which had a mattress, mosquito net and a fan. It was absolutely enough to live authentically on the island. The campsite is very nice, electricity is available 6-10pm, then solar panel electricity works. For the right experience, this is absolutely sufficient. There were 10 of us in our group and it was nice to sit in the campground and play cards in the evenings - so I recommend packing some games with you. As for the food - we were very pleasantly surprised, there was always plenty of food and it was very tasty. There was always a choice of fish or seafood, meat and vegetables so there was something for everyone. Fresh water was available 24/7. There was plenty of room for snorkeling, chilling on the beach or taking photos during the trips to the different islands and locations as well. Jeremy even had a drone, so we took some beautiful shots from the trip as well. We would recommend the this tour to anyone who does not mind direct contact with nature and who wants to enjoy peace and quiet. We were lucky with our joiner group and met some great new people. Thank you, Wanderwalkers!!

Best unplugged adventure This trip is not for those who want luxury and comfort. But, this trip is perfect for those who would love reconnect with Mother Nature and make more meaningful connections with strangers from around the world. Our guide, Kuya Mark and the rest of the boat crew went over and beyond with the their service. Kuya Mark dove for a good 30mins to an hour just for us to have some sea urchins because we requested. The whole boat crew plus the kind and hospitable people also helped us by pushing the boat for about 700 meters from the shoreline because we got stuck in low tide in Onok Island. The crew made sure that we are able to go back to camp safely. The housekeeping did a good job of preparing our room. The rest of the island crew made sure that our stomachs are filled with mouth watering food.We requested for pineapples since they have the best ones in Bataraza. One of our friends in the group was craving mangoes, even though she did not request this, I believe the people in Punta Sebaring were kind enough to make an extra effort to prepare mangoes on our last night.I am used to Island Life since I grew up in one of the beautiful islands in the Philippines. But, the beauty of Balabac and its untouched beaches are on top of my list! The service for us is excellent as they always go an extra mile just to take care of their guests. Will definitely recommend this trip to my friends and family!

Fantastic! One of the best if not the best tour I've ever done. Everything was fantastic, from the organizers, the people, not to mention the scenery. I highly recommend this experience.

Best Real Island Life Experience! This trip by The Wander Walkers was very organized and well coordinated! The tour guide and the boat crew were very accommodating throughout the duration of our island hopping activity. We were well taken care for our meals. They have generous meal servings that are included in the package. We enjoyed all of our time during our trip. I would also have to add that I found friends joining this tour. This was one of the best joiner tours I ever joined. On day one, everyone vibe with one another like we’ve known each other for years. I’am the only Fillipino but the international friends made me feel like I belong to the group! No awkwardness. We had a lot of fun. We really enjoyed our time! Coming from a busy city life, we had the best real island life experience. We were refreshed and recharged. The place is just beautiful like in a movie. The place is one of those that you will have to comeback over and over again. I will book my Balabac tour with The Wander Walkers again.

One of a kind trip My friends and I went here to escape our busy lives at the city. No signal, no thick bedding, no aircon; it was pure island life made easier by the staff, you’ll eventually fall in love with Balabac’s raw charm. Kuya Willie and the whole Punta Sebaring staff were super nice to us. Will try and come back as soon as possible.
